Perfect way to explore rural Tibetan culture
It takes about 1 hour for you to arrive Dechen Valley, where is a delightful vista destination for a horseback trail. Travel through magnificent scenery would be the most exciting part of your tour. Please note the Tibetan horses are sturdy, but small, so you may be required to walk up the steeper sections of trail. Riders must not exceed 90kg.

Day 1 Arrival at Lhasa by flight or train [3658m]

 
You will be picked up by our Tibetan guide with your name sign once you arrive in Lhasa Gonggar airport or train station. From airport to Lhasa city is 68km, around one hour and half drive will take you to the holy city Lhasa; from the train station it is only 15km and takes 20 minutes by drive. Afternoon, have a good rest to acclimatize the high altitude. Overnight in Lhasa.
 

Day 2 Lhasa Sightseeing

 
Jokhang Temple, Lhasa, ReligionThe first day of sightseeing starts from Lhasa's cardinal landmark-Potala Palace, a structure of massive portions. Its towering image already appearing on various occasions, but your first sight of the Potala will still be an awe-inspiring moment. It takes at least a good 2-hour to visit those rooms, halls and chapels. In the afternoon, we will drop a visit of the Jokhang Temple, the spiritual center of Tibet. Everyday, pilgrims from every corner of Tibet trek a long distance to the temple. The temple is the product of Han, Tibetan and Nepalese architectural techniques. Then we will visit Barkhor, the oldest street in a very traditional city in Tibet. Overnight in Lhasa.
 

Day 3 Lhasa Sightseeing 

 
Drepung MonasteryAbout 8km west of central Lhasa is the Drepung Monastery, once world's largest monastery with about 10,000 monks. This day's sightseeing begins with these white monastic buildings piled up on the hillside. Walking up to the hill is a pleasant thing, an easy break from the solemn ambience inside the halls and chapels. At the plat roof of hillside, you can have very good views of the whole Lhasa city and the distant mountains. Drepung is one of Lhasa's two great Gelugpa monasteries, the other is Sera Monastery. Around 5km north of central Lhasa, Sera may not be as grandiose as Drepung, but is more serene surrounded by many small temples. The 'Buddhism Scriptures Debating' in Sera is very famous. Overnight in Lhasa.
 

Day 4 Lhasa / Dechen Valley Horse Riding

 
20111123123017_YhheJ.jpgLeaving Lhasa at 8am we drive 1 hour and 15 min. to the Dechen Valley (near Tolung) where we meet our local horse guide and outfit the group. We then hold an important safety session to make sure everyone understands the safety issues involved in horse riding. We start out slow, allowing time for everyone to get acquainted with their horse. We follow local paths into the hills and stop for lunch. We spend between 3-4 hours of time actually riding and allow plenty of time to meet local nomads and take photos. We return to Lhasa in the afternoon. Overnight in Lhasa.
 
Note: Experience is preferred but not essential.
 

Day 5 Lhasa airport / train station dropping off

 
Today, Lhasa airport or train station dropping off, the time to say your farewells to your guide and driver, end the trip.

It’s easy to find nice restaurants in Lhasa, and you could also ask for suggestions from your guide. They always know where you can find something tasty.
 
The price would be different according to different food:
 
1.      If you choose noodles, around RMB 10-15 per person.
2.      If you like some fast food like KFC, around RMB 20-35 per person. 
3.      If you prefer some food at a decent restaurant, around RMB 50-70 per person.  
4.      The local Tibetan hotpot, around RMB 80-100 per person. That is a really good one too!
