Opening of the new Tibet Museum on July 8, 2022

On July 8, the opening ceremony of the new Tibet Museum was held in Lhasa. The new Tibet Museum covers an area of 65,000 square meters and has a collection of more than 520,000 items, including more than 40,000 precious cultural relics (sets). Such as various types of prehistoric cultural relics, statues of Buddha and Bodhisattva with various textures and shapes, handwritten Tibetan classics dipped in gold powder, silver powder, coral powder, colorful Thangka paintings, various musical instruments and instruments, handicrafts with distinctive national characteristics, pottery with different styles, etc.

The Tibet Museum, adjacent to the world cultural heritage Potala Palace and Norbulingka, was opened in October 1999. In October 2017, the state invested 660 million RMB to implement the reconstruction and expansion project of the new Tibet Museum.
