It's convenient to take a flight to Tibet. At present, there are flights to Lhasa from more than 18 cities in China and from Kathmandu in Nepal.
There is no other direct flight to Tibet from overseas except Nepal, so the international tourists need to transit in one of the gateway cities in China before flying to Tibet, and usually they are Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xi'an, Chengdu, Chongqing, Kunming, etc.
Meanwhile, it's advisable to at least stay an overnight in a gateway city en route to Lhasa, either to pick up your Tibet Travel Permit or to buffer potential delays of your international flights. For those who'd travel to Tibet from Nepal, at least 3 work days before starting the tour is needed to get a group visa which could only be issued at the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu.
The cost of flights varies according to different seasons, and Go To Tibet Tours can help book the discounted tickets with competitive price. Please feel free to contact us for more information.
